Kamala Beach is a coastal area located on the west coast of Phuket Island in southern Thailand, north of Patong Beach and facing the Andaman Sea. It is a crescent-shaped bay bordered by headlands, with a long stretch of sandy shoreline and a village-based community behind the beachfront.
Historically, Kamala developed as a small fishing and agricultural settlement before gradually transforming into a mixed residential and resort area. Compared to Phuket’s more commercialized beach districts, Kamala retains a lower-density layout, with fewer high-rise buildings and a more village-oriented street pattern. Today, Kamala Beach functions as both a living community and a resort district, balancing everyday local life with tourism-based development.
